Pennsylvania ranks fourth in the United States in homeless children, behind California, Texas, and Michigan. The tri-county region (Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties) served by IHN-ML is no exception. There are between 700 and 900 homeless families in our service area.
Consider these facts:
One in nine adults, and one in six children, are only two paychecks away from homelessness.
Families with children, comprising 40% of the national homeless population, are its fastest growing segment.
In one recent year, IHN-ML provided temporary housing for • 15-20 families,
• 26 children, most of whom were under the age of five, and
• 16 single-parent families.
